FIOS DVR Anomaly (QIP7232 with 1.9)

If I have a show set to record on a specific channel at 2 pm and I have the previous show paused (e.g. the 1pm to 2 pm show) then the DVR automatically jumps to the second show at 2 pm (thus losing whatver was stil buffered of the previous show). I would expect this to happen if the seond tuner was busy but it's not. Ironically his does not happen if the second show is on a different channel. Has anyone else observed this odd behaviour?

Oh yes ... quite annoying!

I've been watching a "live" show that I had to pause to answer the phone, get a beer, etc. or even a show that I missed the beginning of but because the STB was already on the channel was in the buffer allowing me to rewind and watch from the beginning only to have the DVR kick on at the top of the hour to record a previously scheduled show on the same channel ... and wham! you lose the buffer and miss the end of the previous show.

As you said, this is not a case of two tuners being in use ... only the one.

My "work around" is that as soon as I start watching a show on a channel that might start recording before I'm finished, I hit the "record" button on the current show. This converts the buffer to a recording on the DVR and allows me to keep watching. When the new show starts recording, I get the "jump" glitch, but at least I can go back to the DVR menu and find the previous show waiting thus allowing me to fast-forward back to the point I was at and complete watching the show.

It happened to me tonight. After the DVR jumped to recording the next show, I tried pausing the recording and going back to live TV, but the buffer was gone.

And no - it doesn't happen if I'm watching a show on another channel. I can go to live TV and watch the buffer on that channel (as long as I'm not recording a second show).

I guess I should get into the habit of doing what Lasagna suggests, as a matter of course.

I've had this happen also, but recently found a different type of work-around that has been successful multiple times.

I hit the "Last" button twice. When it comes back to the buffered channel, it allows me to rewind and get back to the point where it cut off (or further back if need be). Now, I assume this would not work if both tuners are recording when it happens. Give it a try next time, see if it works for you.

The "Last Last" work around does not appear to work for me. The second "Last" selection returns me to the recording and not the show that preceeded the recording.
