Cause of issue

What is actually causing the pixelation during recording/playback - is it the 7232 DVR, is it the new IMG 1.9, or both? During every recording/playback there is at least one part of the show that will briefly pixelate. I have tried auto correcting the DVR and STB's and yet it still happens. Slightly annoying problem that has not been corrected yet. Any advice from fellow FiOS users would be greatly appreciated.

It s probably neither the 7232 box or IMG1.9. Television signals delivered by FiOS are sent to the ONT in a compressed form.

The compressed data stream needs to be expanded to generate the imagery actually displayed on the TV. If for some reason the Data stream contains errors or gaps, then there is insufficient data to fully re-construct the image, and pixelation results.

The Most likely cause is upstream from the DVR. Verizon transmits what the providers deliver to them, and those data streams are rarely perfect.

The other possiblity is that the signal to noise ratio on the signal coming into the box is inadequate.. That may be because there are too many splitters, the cable is too long, or the contacts somewhere in the signal path between the ONT and the STB are corroded. You may want to try removing and re-installing the coax at the STB, the splitter and the ONT and see if that makes any difference.

If it doesn't, you probably need to call Verizon out, and let them use more advanced equipment to try to see what the problem is. This is a problem that is unlikely to be fixed remotely, so attempts to reboot, are reset you cable box are only likely to add to you aggravation. It is very unlkely that the problem is in either the ONT or the STB.
