Quick question what is a IMG1.9??
IMG stands for Interactive Media Guide. 1.9 is the newest level of the software used in the TV STBs. Verizon started to roll out the new 1.9 level some time back, some issues were found, and the rollout was stopped. Rumors are that they will start rolling out an updated version of 1.9 "soon", whatever that means.
You can check to see what level you currently have in your STBs by:
Menu ==> Settings ==> System Information ==> the first line shows the release level. Most of us still have 1.8, a few have 1.9.
If you do not already have 1.9 and would like to get an idea what it looks like, tune to channel 131.

IMG 1.9 is a mythical beast that lives in the shadows, occasionally appearing just long enough to tease us into believing it's existance.
Hey guys.Brand new to FIOS as of today. Big fan so far with the exception of this IMG and knowing its going to drive me bat **** crazy.
After googling around, have done a lot of reading on 1.9 and looks like a monster improvement.
But seems the consensus is once the rollout was stopped - its going to take a while to get going again? And even when it does get started, its not National? I am in VHO 03 I believe? Los Angeles.
The IMG is so crucial to the viewing experience - anyone have a realistic idea how long its going to take to get going again? Can tell I am not going to get used to his 4:3 - 1 hour guide and its really going to bother me. Odds on how long I am going to have deal with it?
Thanks in advance.

The inital rollout was supposed to start in April. It was then postponed and finally started in mid May. It was supposed to take about 6 weeks to roll out nationally. However problems were found and they have postponed the remainder of the rollout without any update on a time frame. Rumors are that they are going to start again here in the near future. My guess would be that it will likely be out this summer. (just a guess).
But there is both good and bad news for you in that you are in CA.
The bad news is that CA and TX are typically the last to be upgraded. Verizon typically starts in the east and works westward.
The good news is that typically by the time it gets to CA, most of the bugs are worked out by the other states and we get the fixed version.
Thanks spacedebris.Hopefully it rolls out soon and fast. Patience most definitely not one of my strong suits. How they got away with this IMG for so long..... wow.
SDBuff, I am in california too. We usually get the IMG updates last, they usually start in the north eastern states and work their way back. the draw back is that we get it last, the bonus, is that by the time it gets to us, all the bugs are usually worked out. I would expect 2-3 months or so
I think GaryDoug's response explains it all.

I have the FIOS iPad which was updated recently where the remarks stated it was changed to support the 1.9 UI. However, my STB is still at 1.8. When I gave feedback on the iPad app asking when 1.9 would be available, I received a reply saying it had been pushed out. Apparenntly Verizon's left had does not know what their right hand is doing!
Likewise I find the IMG on my STB has channels that do not appear in the listings displayed by the iPad app (I live in Lakeland, FL and have some Orlando channels, but they do not show in the listings I get in the iPad app).
Pete
I'm new to FioS and in Eastern Massachusetts. How can I tell what my VHO number is, and from past experience where along the line should I see the IMG 1.9 update once it gets rolling ?
Thanks,
Ken
Using the remote: Press Menu. Select Settings. Select System Information. I have no idea about the schedule or order.

Initial 1.9 rollout did occur Mid April. An additional rollout to all Cisco boxes (most areas don't offer these boxes yet), occurred late April to beginning of May. May was when they decided not to continue in order to address some issues.
Current rumor is that version 1.9a we be rolled to the areas that already have 1.9 by the end of this month. And hopefully after a couple weeks start rolling out to a new area each week after that.
