Putting this out there in hopes that someone else has gone through it before and have insight for me. (But I've absolutely had it with the standard tech help script that always ends in 'we're sending another box.')
I'm currently on round 3 of replacement DVRs (7216 and 7232-P2 models) in the last couple of weeks and still no solution. Even though I have two other boxes in the house that currently work (one 7216 and the other just a 2500)- and I've tried the replacement ones in different locations- the outcome is the same.
After the intial activation, the new STB works for a short while and then starts randomly rebooting. The longest I've actually gotten a picture is about an hour, but it's more typical for it to reset itself at least 10-15 times an hour, rarely even completeing the reset before cycling again.
I've done all the usual quick fix stuff. Reset router, hard STB resets, in-home agent (useless), website tools, checked connections, even replaced the coax hoping for an easy answer. And let me say (since it's a typical go-to answer) that this is NOT an overheating issue. The box is free and clear of anything even close to it.
Every conversation I have with tech support is the exact same pattern of unplug this, reset that, we're sending another box. Ugh. (Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?) I'm just curious how long this has to go on before I can get actually a service call to my house...
Anyway, I was wondering if it was possible this is a signal strength issue or something along those lines?
Is there some super horrible software issue or a hugh batch of bad DVRs?
Any ideas are welcome!!
