how to get a qip 7100

Hey all - Verizon support directed me to the forums here. They told me to post in here that I wanted to swap my current HD box (6200 series) for a qip 7100 series, and that you all would be able to help get that swap facilitated. Is this information correct?

Little bit of a back story - new to FiOS (December), and was given the 6200 box when the did my new install. Turns out, this is an older box, and shouldn't have been installed to begin with. The thing that prompted my call to Verizon was that the guide will only display 90 minutes of program at a time, while my box downstairs (HD DVR, don't know model), displays 150 minutes. Both are HD boxes, HD TVs, and should display the same thing. They said that I needed the new box, but they couldn't order the swap, since they could only do an exact exchange.

So, that leads me here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of paths you can use to upgrade. The simplest perhaps is just to walk into a Verizon store if one is within reach (maybe call first). Also you can sniff around online and order a newer device to be shipped to your home. With this method, the charges and postage coming and going may vary.

In general the equipment installed when you first get FiOS is pretty much a roll of the dice, depending on what's available to the tech at that time. There does not appear to be a general rule regarding what's installed initially, how to upgrade, and how much any of this will cost.
