My FIOS remote won't turn off STB and TV at same time.

I have the P265 remote and I wanted to program it so the STB power button would turn on/off both the Digital Adapter and my TV. So I did what it told me to do...Hold down OK and 2 and release, then 9-7-7, then pressed the STB power button. Well, after I did that, whenever I hit the STB power button, it only turns off the TV, but not the Digital Adapter. The digital adapter will not turn off! It works just fine on another TV in the house that has the HD STB, but for all the other TVs using the Digital Adapters, the STB button will not turn off the Adapter, only the TV! I had to unprogram the remote so that the STB button only turns on the Adapter, and the TV button only turns on the TV. Is this a common problem? Why won't the adapter power off when I have the remote programmed to turn off both devices with the same button? I seem to only have this problem with the Digital Adapters. It wouldn't be a big deal, but I am unsure if leaving the power on the Digital Adapter on all day and night would seriously affect my electric bill.

I do apologize for the limitation of the boxes. Unprogram the remote so you can turn both off with their repective button.
