DVR on demand content?

I am an HBO subscriber and I wish to DVR episodes of a tv program that will only be available on demand for a couple of more days. I don't see any options to record the program fom the on demand menu and my record button on my remote doesn't appear to do anything as I watch the program. Is this action possible ?
