New contract and new price for transferring service, really???

Hi all,

I have a 2-year contract with FIOS right now, the reason I signed this contract four month ago was the representative was sure I could transfer the service when I move.

Now I am moving to another apartment in the same building and ask them for transferring my service. I was then told the price I am paying right now is no longer valid and they gave me a new price which means I have to pay $20 more per month for the second year. And that is not all, I have to start a new 2-year contract with them!!! That is ridiculous! How could that be called "transfer" ?? It is just asking you to sign a new contract except you don't get any deal this time!

I am wondering if anyone has the same situation and how to solve this. I probably have to move again in a year and don't want this happen again.

I am going through the exact same issue right now. I signed a two years contract with them and I am moving to a ground floor apartment in the same building and Verizon wants me to renew the contract and pay higher monthly bill. This doesn't make sense at all. What's the point of signing a contract?

The contract that was signed was a contract for a specific address. If you move or re-locate they consider it breaking the contract for that address and make you re-sign a new one for the new address. Its all in the TOS.

I sympathize with the intial pain; I went to hell and back when I moved across state lines. Per fios, you are forced to lose your account number which, I was told, means you HAVE TO START OVER. that is NOT what I was told prior to the move and it is contrary to the advertised easy move **bleep** commericals they used to run.

That you were told one thing and reality is different is not something that surprise anyone who has dealt with fios. I had an issue in which my account was so jacked up I was forwarded again and again and finally had the forwarders stay on the line and listened to them argue. the conclusion from that end, "we have a high turnover and lots of people are new here." .i.e., that voice on the line probably has no idea what they are doing. by the way, my account issue was never solved until I moved and then found out the easy move is a lie--you start over in most cases and for some a new account number is disasterous.

with most companies or contracts, I would say you should see it in writing prior to accepting, but that does not matter with fios--they are flying by the seat of their pants. I am moving to directv with our next move; have had it. this cisco dvr is the worst I have seen and they lied about upgrades.

fios has great connectivity, but from there it is all down hill.
