Motorola DVR 7232 questions

I have the Motorola DVR 7232 which has a e SATA connection to allow a hookup of a 2nd hard drive to increase capacity of the DVR.

Question 1: When I delete a recorded program it seems to go to a recycle bin (History) where it can be restored. When it is deleted from the (History where you can restore it) the remeining capacity of the DVR does not increase. Thus, where is the deleted program stored - in the cloud, at Verizon on a server or where?

Question 2: How long will a recently deleted program be available for restore?

Question 3: Can an external hard drive that is plugged in to the USB port be used to increase the cpacity of the DVR?

Question 4: Frequently the sound goes away or there is severe pixilation. This can be fixed by pausing the live program and then starting again. What causes these problems - decreased bandwidth, computer lockup or what.

It seems I can increase the capacity of the DVR by deleting a program, thus increasing the remaining capacity and restoring it when I want to view it from History. Has anyone used this method before?

Q1 A deleted program is still on the DVR. Deleted programs from history does not increase the capacity because it was increased when you first deleted it.

Q2 A deleted can be restored until the space is needed to record something else. At that point the recordings in history will be written. Oldest first.

When deleting a programto regain capacity, make sure it's one you're not going to want back. Otherwise it could be permanently deleted when you don't expect it.

Gone through 5 units myself, all have stopped working and only gets to the 88:88:88 blinks once in a few seconds. Yes, after unit is activated and up for several minutes, when scheduling a series it prompts on the bottom import from stb and gives the name of the box if you have not changed the new one yet, like living room, family room, bedroom something like that. Once imports all your series scheduling comes back, that is if you exported them to cloud before old one went down. Also the eSATA I got the Fantom 2TB w/eSATA ~ $130.00 and once enable more storage and connect and turn on power on drive it detects it and shows. But, new box says drive is from another box and only prompt is to erase the drive to be used by new box. So you loose everything, only option is to play from old and record on exteranl device like PVR, DVR, or DVD recorder to back them up. My frist box needed to be rebooted every few days or so when it would lock up or become very unresponsive. Probably should have kept it . The replacements, went out like 2hrs, two days, 2 weeks, 2 mos.
