Both STBs...out?

When I woke up this morning, I noticed that both the set top boxes for my tvs were giving me errors.

They display d6.09, Er.05, and then a countdown, cycling down from -60. When the numbers cycle down to 0, all the lights go off for a moment, then come back on with FP6A before starting over again. The power light on them is off, and I'm unable to turn either of them on. I tried unplugging them, but it's the same when I plug them back in. I went to the support website and had it try to reset my boxes, but that didn't seem to do anything either.

Anyone know what's going on here? Or do I somehow need both my boxes replaced at the same time?

(My internet doesn't seem to be having any issues.)

I have the exact same problem in the Tampa area - only the standard def boxes are affected, the HD seems OK. Boxes will not respond to remote or front panel buttons. I was watching on one of them when it started.

Tried calling tech support, but could not wait on hold to talk to anyone. hope they clear this up soon!

Same thing at my residence -- Spent nearly an hour on hold to speak to technical support only to be told "sorry nobody is available this call will now be disconnected"

Called back and started the whole thing again- after another 15 minutes I am already late for work. . Relatives will have to fend for themselves.

There was an upgrade last night that failed. All boxes should be repaired this morning, hopefully.

Same thing is happening to me in Pittsburgh. PA. I was watching the TV at 5:30 a.m. and all of a sudden it went out and started giving all the error messages on the STB.

I tried calling Verizon and was on hold almost 2 hours (I'm home sick, so have nothing better to do!)

Still couldn't get through.

Online Chat is down now as well and isn't supposed to come up until 9 a.m.

Before the box went down, I did notice the new TV guide format was posted, but all of the listings were off by 1/2 hour.

Any updates on a repair time for Pittsburgh?

Still out in florida. FINALLY got a hold of customer service. Service will be returned in 24 to 48 hrs, or so they say. Watch your bill, servicr is supposed to be prorated for outage!

I, too, am having the same in Pittsburgh. I was watching and noticed the new look of the tv listings before the errors started. First trouble I've had with Fios in 2 years. 😞 Glad I'm not alone -- misery loves company!

Same here in Tampa. Both Standard boxes show db09 ER.05. The standard STB was working just fine at 5AM EST, then around 5:20AM EST it went out.

The old HD DVR is fine and is at v1.8 as it is not supported for 1.9.

The standard digital converter is working too.

Wow - 24 to 48 hours without TV? This stinks. I have one TV hooked into a standard box and now I can't get anything for 2 days? Makes me want to consider another service provider. Shouldn't take 2 days to fix anything software related. Shame on Verizon.

The old DVR is at 1.8 because 1.9 was not finished updating and is now postponed again.

Folks - related to my previous post - this website edited out the names and addresses to contact, however, just do a simple search on google or any search engine for the following:

1. Verizon CEO

2. Verizon headquarters

3. FCC address

The info will just pop up and you can use it.

Really not worth the effort for those in the Pittsburgh and Florida area.

They goofed somwhere in the attempt to rollout 1.9 to the SD boxes in that area. The results most, if not all, of those boxes failed in that DAC. That caused their support lines to LIGHT up and be overwelmed.

They are obviously attempting to roll back the update. 24-48 hours is a generic estimate the call center gives out when they have to contact the real people who do the work. It is probably not going to take anything like that to get these boxes back to working.

Note I recommend you enter all this in the new forums on 1.9.

i called tech support earlier and, after a 40 minute wait, finally got a human voice.able boxes

it seems that customers in Fla. and Pa. are having the same problem, but only w/their non-DVR boxes.

the rep told me when she started answering phones, she had almost 500 people on hold!

it's all due to some kind of an upgrade to the cable boxes that went KABLOOEY, or something.

she also said the problems we're experiencing should be cleared up by TONIGHT(?????)

it'd have beev nice to get some kind of notification of this possible disruption before the fact!

my sympathies to all w/non-dvr boxes.

The boxes should be coming back up now. If still getting same message try rebooting the box. If that does not work call verizon and have them reload the box will fix issue.

Can you list steps to reboot the box?

I've had my box unplugged since early this morning - just plugged back in and it's still giving same error messages.

That's what I meant by unpluging and plugging back in. You may just have to call to get box reloaded. Gonna be a long wait though.

Bevbruce, Why do you have your box unplugged? Verizon can't fix it if it's not connected. Do not leave it unplugged!!!!
