Hey guys, I recently switched from Comcast to Verizon and have had a couple of days to play around with my newly installed service. Some information about the area I'm in what package I got, I'm in northeast Philadelphia and signed up with the 2-year deal to get free multi-room DVR for life with the Extreme HD TV package and 25/25 Internet. There are so many things that FiOS seems to do better but while trying to get aquaintly with the service I came up with a few questions that hopefully some of you can shine a light on for me.
1. My only complant so far is that the picture quality on my DVR TV does not look as good as Comcast did and for the first time ever I'm starting to see motion artifacts during things like watching sports or fast-paced movies. Everything about the install is the same - same coax, same HDMI, same STB location, in fact the installed upgraded much of the outside wiring with thicker wires to allow for better throughput. I tried using the box to auto-correct itself but the issue still remains, and on top of it all the HD (while still impressive looking) seems fuzzy and grainy when looking up close, I inspected my Comcast picture like this and did not notice anything like it. What do you suggest I do to try and fix this short of calling for a technician to come out?
2, I see people bring up IMG 1.9 a lot, which I eventually found to mean the guide that FiOS uses. Checking my system information I do see a 1.9 so I believe I do have this, but I see other people referring to a 1.9a. Is 1.9a different then 1.9?
3. Is there a way to get the DVR to show where I'm at on the "time line" of a show or movie whenever I skip forward or back? It comes up when I pause, rewind, or fastforward, but I use the skip buttons for most of my shows and would like to see it there as well.
3a. When skipping back on a show I'm use to going back in time by 15 seconds, but with FiOS it goes back 30 seconds. Is there a way to change this to 15?
4. If I decide to hook up an eSATA external drive to my DVR, would I be able to unplug it to watch whatever shows are recorded on it on a PC?'
5. When choosing video format options on my DVR I see '1080p 30 secs' is not available but all other video formats are. Is this because my TV can't handle this or does the box (CHS342 DVR) just not support.
If any of you can answer some of these questions I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
