My wife is hearing impaired; she needs Closed Captioning to be able to enjoy her shows. Are there any kind hearted folks that can help us out? The problem is that on CBS-HD, parts of the CC is missing. When this happens, my wife pauses the recorded program and asks, "What did they say?" I back it up 10 seconds, listen to it and tell her what was missing. Once or twice during an hour program isn't so bad but when it occurs 10-15 times during 1 program, well, that's plain ridiculous.
I've called Verizon tech support more than 35 times in the last month only to be jacked around and told that it's every body's fault but Verizon's and they can't find the problem. I fought with Bright House for almost 2 years before leaving them, about the same problem before they fixed it. It was a software issue. Once they wrote a software patch, it was fixed. I don't want to go through the same thing with Verizon. I shouldn't have to. Not only will this help my wife, but all the other hearing impaired viewers.
What am I asking for? Wednesday night, Dec. 5, can any of you record on CBS-HD "Criminal Minds" and keep the recording until the next day. It doesn't matter if you use Closed Captioning or not or if you even watch this program. Then, by Thursday morning, I will post in this thread where the CC drops out on my recordings. (Only the first 3 times) You can fast forward to where those spots are and see if your CC drops out as well. Shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 minutes. If you can then post here if they did or did not and in what city you live, I can then tell Verizon our findings. My wife and I would really appreciate help in dealing with Verizon.
I don't know if this is a local problem or national, so I need as many different locales as possible. If it's a national problem, fixing it will help thousands and thousands of hearing impaired customers.
Thank you all.
