question for people that experience pixelation

When you get pixelation is it all the time or just when the camera on the screen moves very fast?

I just get it when there are any super fast camera movements. I did order new HDMI wires to see if this will fix the issue, but was just curious when others talk about pixelation how are they getting it.

I got this with comast too, but at least with fios its not as bad. I do wonder if I should ask them to drop a new coaxile wire maybe that is the issue.

if you get it with fast motion like sports or movies then try switching the setting to 720p

see if it helps menu > settings > video settings > and video format make sure 720p has the check.

I already switched it to 720 but I am still getting it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I did check the incoming signal and its 24DB, is that a good number?

Also if I wanted to try to swith out the coaxle cable wire, would verizon do that or would I need to have an electriction do that?

I seem to get it a lot on the Movie Channels and when watching things from OnDemand mostly.

Or go to "native' video mode.

On-demand can be subject to such drop outs, often losing the picture for a fraction of a second when the packets are lost or delayed.

OK, but it's new. I've had FiOS for a few years now and this has just started happening over the past few months. I figured that it was just something that would be temporary, but it seems to be happening more and more lately.

@tns, is there a native pass through somewhere in the STB? I only see 720p or 1080i. I've been using 720p because it's generally cleaner than 1080i on my set. But I sometimes see horizontal lines jumping slightly (most notably during the Today Show with the middle line in between the two white boxes at the bottom of the screen bouncing slightly). But it's otherwise rare.

@davelanger, I see pixellation during fast sports motion on my local channels during sports, local CBS, NBC, ABC, etc., because the local stations don't have enough bandwidth (they use it up with all those extra alternative digital feeds, weather, etc.). I haven't really seen pixellation it on ESPN, for example. It might be there, but it's very easy to see on my locals.

Turn on the stp/DVR.

Get into the hidden menu by pressing the power off at the box, and then the OK and menu buttons on your remote. If you do this right you will see a screen about Video settings. Press right on the output setting through each of the settings until you see native. Then go down and select each of the settings your tv supports. Note you may have to go down to 1080i/720p first before it allows you to select some of the others. Turn off the STB, and turn on again and it should be running in Native mode.
