I cannot find a number that works to log into the router and do not want to reset at this time. There is nothing labeled s/n on the label. How many characters does this s/n have?
I can't answer the question about the serial number, but have you tried the sequence of numbers/letters found under the barcode? The barcode I'm talking about should be found on the silver/red portion of the ActionTec router, on the same sticker containing your WEP/WPA key. For the Westells, the serial number should be pretty easy to find.
Thanks. I have tried that (it is very long and, of course, hard to read. Is that an S? an 8? a 0? That number is not labeled anything - it is just below the barcode.
Ah, ok. The one below the barcode is what you want, just keep in mind you should enter it in all caps. If you can't get logged in, you're ultimately stuck doing a factory reset. After a reset, the router should use the password of "password" for a few minutes which will allow you to go in and reset it.
What may help is a scangun, or an app capable of reading barcodes on your phone or computer. You can scan the code and then copy and paste the password into the password box.
Thanks very much - can't reset right now as my spouse has a lot going on with a new laptop and there are wireless issues that appear to be caused by some issues that will be resolved with Windows 8.1. Thanks and cheers!

For the ActionTec with red label, your login info is identified on the label in the upper right corner.
User name: admin
Password: ********
Enter both exactly as shown; user name all lower case; Password will use both cases.
The lower rev ActionTec I once had provided the same login info.
Many thanks to everyone, but the numbers on my router that should be the router serial number do not get me access to the router interface. My desktop is 5 years old and I will need to repalce it in the not-to-distant future. At that point I will probably rest the router and/or upgrade it.
Cheers
If the UserName & Password combo on the label don't work, a possible cause is that the password has been changed. Since you don't want to reset at this time, another option is to contact customer support. They may be able to access the login info remotely.
