I understand that you can only FF and rewind live tv on your main DVR box. In my house this main box is dedicated to the wrong television set (I want to be able to pause etc... on a tv in a different room). Can I just switch the boxes? Can Fios remotely switch that setup?

Yes, you can switch the boxes. It's no different than swapping TVs.

You may wish to rename the STBs afterwards. That can be done in settings on the STB.
