Is there a way to update the towers near my new house?

I know with sprint when we had it we were able to get our phones updated to be able to have service at our houses. I am moving and I have one to no bars when i go out there. It would be really good if i could be able to update the towers/phone to where they will be able to have service. I have a small one and do not want a house phone so it is crucial that my cell phone works. Can anyone help me?

If you dial *228 and select option 2, you will update your roaming capabilities. This will download the latest PRL (Preferred Roaming List) to your phone. It will tell your phone what towers are available in an area and which ones it should connect to. You can update the PRL anywhere in the US that has Verizon coverage, there is only one nationwide master PRL as far as I'm aware.

Actually there are multiple PRL's, for Verizon. And I never have quite figured out why, except maybe for outdated plans where the terms may had been different back then.

Myself having an Alltel plan, mine is vastly different than a Verizon PRL.
