Cablecard activation code

I need to move my cablecard and re-pair it to another device as the current one is being replaced.

When I got the card it was brought by a tech and I didn't get a activation code.

The online activation won't let me proceed without one and the Verizon phone tech can't find a correct one.

I don't want to have to order a new card and return the old one just to get a code.

Can any one please help

I suspect you are going to have to get Verizon to come out and swap cards. However I believe under current FCC rules they cannot charge you for the 'truck roll'. Verizon doesn't, and never has allowed self install of Cable Cards.

Actually they just started allowing cable cards without truck rolls a while ago. I think in response to a FCC ruling that that required the option for self installs sometiime this month.

I can confirm. I performed a self install a few weeks ago. The card comes in a box that you may need to use for returning the old card. This is a rather new procedure and tech support may still need to answer this item with a bit of confusion. You will need an RMA with return label for the box. Be sure to keep a copy of the UPS tracking and the RMA slip. This way it can be traced.

I think prisaz might be on the right track for your needs.

Call Verizon up and have them "add" a new device (namely, send you a new card for the new device) and then cancel and return the card associated with the old device. Worse case, you might have a one month overlap in card rental fees to adsorb, but it would likely be well worth avoiding the hassle of trying to "move" an existing card.

Actually the self install is available as an online ordering process now. If you order the card, mine was here in two days, the system said ten days. Then activate the new card with the information supplied. Send the old card back, just like as if you no longer had the device it was used with. You would need to request the return of the first card, which can also be done online. I do not believe you can add a card and remove a card at the same time. Online you will have overlap with your account after the new card shows up, ask to return a card for the box you no longer have. Or try to schedule it all with a tech. Online two days may be faster. You would only have the pro rated charge for the two $3.99 cards.
