Moving Utility Box

I have a landline utility box behind my garage that I would like to have moved to build an addition to my garage.

Can anyone point me in the right direction about who to contact to move this box, if possible?

If it is one in the ground, not very likely they would move it unless it it is not in the utility easements on your property.

The utility box is free standing in the yard.

Would a deed mention utility easements? And/or a survey?

The zoning for my area recently changed. The utility box was placed in an area that, under the old zoning, was not permissible to build on. New zoning has changed that.

They are coming out Thursday to take a look. Sometime between 8am and 7pm...

Zoning typically would not cover easements.

Might be on deed or survey.

Try contacting your county office for details on easements for your property.

Well it's staying. Was told they could move it but it would be several thousand dollars because it is the main line running through my neighborhood.

So I either have to leave my garage addition open (like a carport) - as long as there is a 3-foot access in front of the box, or put my addition somewhere else. Or move!
