My apartment building got fios the other day. We waited years for installation. I was excited to sign up. The posted price is $74.99 for internet , customtv package and phone. I was quoted $120. after equipment and taxes.

The price has now jumped price to over $200.!!

The representative to my building said "Everyone gets a different price." I believe it.

How do they get away with this? I guess I will go back to Spectrum.

And BTW the TV server is not working properly. The tv shows and VOD stop frequently.

It could be because of verizons new non contract ala carte pricing.

when you select service verizon emails you the total price and a simulated invoice of your first invoice. In this price maybe install charges and partial months charges.

however you really don’t need telephone and tv. You can get a service like Google TV or Hulu plus and view it on numerous devices. On the telephone side get a VOIP service like voipo. Also there is no taxes on Internet but the other two are where your high costs come in with taxes and surcharges. Now in NY verizon adds a bogus NYS Municipal construction surcharge to move poles. But get high speed internet and you will be ok.

No, I had the old package with the 2 year contract.

After speaking to many people I concluded that Verizon can not be trusted with billing.

In my area fios has better internet and much clearer TV. But I can not continue to waste my time trying to fix the mess that verizon specialises in.
