DVR keeps restarting

We recently upgraded our STB to a DVR - the box radomly resets itself multiple times even though the other DVR in the house does not. It might go thru the restart process 2 or 3 times before it stays on. We've tried the on-screen help but it doesn't show a problem or help it at all. Where could the problem be coming from?

Interesting... if you know how to disconnect and reconnect the DVR's, I would trade the boxes out (when neither is recording anything). This way you will be able to tell if the problems follow the box or the location.

If you don't know much about audio / video wiring, but are determined to try it anyway, just make sure that you take pictures of the back of the boxes before you start pulling wires. That way if worse comes to worse, you'll know how to put everything back.

If the problems follow the box, then you can start going through the STB auto correct or contact tech support and see what they can do for you on their end. You may even need a replacement DVR. If the problem follows the location, then you can reseat all the wiring connections, and even string a temporary extension cord to that location from a different electrical circuit to make sure the it's not an electrical issue.
