years of slow lagging channel changes

I've had a Motorola 2500 stb for several years now and the lag is really ridiculous. I press the remote button and several moments later the channel guide will still be changing try to catch up. I've been pretty patient with this but it's time that this issue is resolved. My HD DVR stb does not lag like this.

Join the club. I was recently pulled into a Private Support Case board to work on solving this very issue. After trying all the normal things, they finally stopped responding and the case is now considered closed. I'm sure they would let me exchange for another 2500, but I don't see that it would do any good. My bet is that there is no answer. They've added so many things to the software that these old boxes just can't keep up. They don't want to say it because it makes them look bad. But what they really want to do is get you to upgrade to an HD box. Sure, I'll upgrade... as soon as they put it in writing that I'll never pay more for the HD box than I'm currently paying for the SD boxes. And that's the hitch. They don't want to invest in upgrading the SD boxes. And we don't want to pay more just to get something that works right.
