Questions about Multi-Room DVR

For the last year now we have been without TV and just been doing internet and phone with Verizon. I got a deal in the mail for upgrading to the triple pack and it includes a Multi-Room DVR for free for 12 months but I have some questions about the DVR...

1. Are the DVR's they are using now the ones with the bigger HDD in them? I remember the last time we had TV and a DVR with Verizon the HDD in the DVR was pitifully small.

2. Will the DVR support HDTV's? Are they all HDTV DVR's now? Before you had to pay more for an HDTV version one...just curious.

3. When they say Multi-room DVR will it support up to three TV's? Specifically knowing that two of the TV's are NOT HD but Standard Def.

1. Should all be 500gb these days. Not sure that they guarantee that.

2. Last I heard they still had SD DVR's but I don't think they give them out any more. Obviously don't order one if you want HD programming even if you are connecting to a SD TV.

3. Sd boxes cannot ask MR-DVR's display HD programming. If you use a HD box connected to a SD set you can display HD programming on the SD set.

There are currently 4 models of DVR available. The 6416 and non-refurbished 7216 still have the 160GB hard drive in them (20+ hours of HD, 80+ hours of SD). The refurbished 7216, 7232, and 435 have the 500GB hard drive. All but the 6416 have the ability to add an eSATA expansion drive (purchased and installed by you) for up to 2TB of more recording room. It's luck of the draw which model you will receive on the day of install. If you get an old one, it costs another $40 to upgrade to a larger hard drive.
As noted above, while there is an SD DVR (2708), I don't believe they will allow you to get one except in exchange for a non-functional one that you already possess. They also no longer allow them to function as MRDVR's. So you will be getting an HD DVR and you will be paying the HD prices (minus special deals).
One MRDVR will support up to six additional STB's (or at least that's what they used to advertise). However you can only watch DVR content on up to 3 TV's at the same time. You are allowed to get only one SD STB with your order. Currently they may be bundled as FREE with your package. It is a model 2500 and it can be slow or have significant lag time when using the Guide or On Demand menus. If you can afford it, I would go with the HD boxes. They have less lag issues, and you can view all channels and DVR recordings (not just the SD content). But free is free. And as noted above, HD boxes are SD compatible.
