Cable box volume settings not working

Fios installed 2 weeks ago.

I have a silver cable box in my bedroom. For some reason I cannot control the TV volume through the "silver" cable box/FIOS remote.

My settings are set to "varable." I tried "fixed" & it is still the same.

When I use the remote volume, the sound stays the same no matter how high I turn it up or down. Same w/Settings.

However, I can control the TV volume by using my TV remote.

Using the cable box to turn on both the box & TV at the same time works just fine. No issues there. Just the cable box/FIOS remote volume. I would like to control my volume through my cable box.

As it stands now, I have to keep my TV remote & box remote together. Smiley Mad

TV is Toshiba if that makes a difference.

Would appreciate help here before I call tech support.

FWIW.....

I have a "black" cable box in my living room. No issues w/controling TV volumn through my cable box/FIOS remote.

Living room tv - Samsung

Bedroom - Silver cable box - Toshiba TV (not a smart tv).

It appears I solved my own post.......

Menu > Customer Support > Top Support Tools.

I followed the step by step instructions for MY remote....

Press and hold OK and 2 - FiOS remote buttons together, then release both. Red LED light blinks twice and stays on.

Press 9 5 5 to make red LED light blink twice and stay on.

Press TV Power button to make red LED light blink 3 times and turn off. The remote should now control TV volume instead of the cable box.

Note: To reset your remote so Volume buttons only control your cable box follow same process as above—simply press 9 5 5 followed by STB - FiOS remote button.

I tried the "Key Fix" solution. That did not work.

Did you configure remote for the Toshiba TV?

And there may be more than one code for Toshiba for all functions.

Yes

There is only 1 code for Toshiba TV.

Do you have the two button remote or the four?

Can you turn TV off and on?

Does TV have an indication (like blinking light) when you hit volume button?

Or does stb have a light that flashes when you hit volume?

Everything works on the remote like its suppose to except for the volume.

Have a new TV - RCA RTDVD3215-B. Have programmed the FIOS remote P265-V5

Code shown on Verizon remote is 321. Used that . Remote works guide . Have used 955 to program the volume control as this did not work when I programmed the remote. Volume is programmed to TV but will volume does not increase or decrease volume . TV works with remote on volume . But, the volume on STB not working.

Have used the KEY fix mulitple times

Same thing with turning the TV on and off with the Verizon remote

As of now, have to use just the Verizon remote for turning on the STB and channels via the remote.

Want to use the Verizon remote to turn the TV on., off, Volume control, and STB on with just the Verizon remote

The 321 code only worked for the STB and channels guide on the Verizon remote

Need to solve this problem
