Using Verizon 4 button remote with Samsung HW-K-450 Soundbar

I can't get my Verizon 4 button remote to control a Samsung HW-K-450 soundbar on my Samsung smart tv. The code that comes with the remote's instructions is 3175 and I found other codes on the internet to try. I was able to control the STB, TV, and Soundbar with a Logitech Harmony remote and it works fine using that. But I can't do the same with the Verizon Remote. I called Verizon Tech Support and was told that the remote doesn't work with the Samsung Soundbar. Is that possible? Is there a workaround?

That's the problem with some "universal" remotes. They don't always work with all devices.

I have the 550 and went with the harmony.
