Using an old MI424WR as MOCA

Good morning,

Just cut the cord and trying to maximize connectivity at an affordable price.

I have replaced my MI424WR with an ASUS AC68U, and things are running great. I would like to use moca to get from the basement to the upstairs in order to have better wifi.

Can I connect a coax cable to the ONT then connect the other end to the MI424WR then run ethernet to an extender?

ONT --> coax --> MI424WR -->ehternet -->extender

Or will I need to run ethernet from the ASUS to a moca device then through the coax?

ONT -->ethernet --> MI424WR/moca --> coax -->MI424WR -->ethernet --> extender

Another way to put things, is the coax dead(?) if I am using ethernet from the ONT?

The coax coming from the ONT is dead. So if you want to get you in house coax to connect to an extender upstairs you will need a pair of MoCA adapters.

It will be ONT> ethernet > Asus > Asus LAN to MoCA adapter

Then also connect coax that was connected to your MI424WR to the adapter.

Upstairs will do the same thing. Connect other adapter to coax and the ethernet will go to an extender.

Alot of posters on here have been using the ECB6200.
