DVR For Life

I was thinking about upgrading to the Quantum service, but was told if I did, I would lose my DVR for life. I don't understand why this would happen, since I was told at the time, I would only lose my DVR for life if I move or cancel the service. All I am doing is changing equipment, and leaving everything else the same. I prefer to keep what I have rather than lose the DVR for life incentive, but I find it totally unfair that Verizon is changing their agreement.

It's my understanding that "DVR Free For Life" means the DVR service that was available when the promotion was active. Not only is Quantom different equipment, it's a different service.

Personally, I'd like to be able to review the terms and conditions of the offer, but I can't find them anywhere. I didn't print them when I signed up nor did I save any paper that Verizon gave me at the time (if they even send any paper). Next time, I'll be sure to print out the terms and conditions so I have them for future reference.

From what I have been reading in other forums the dvr for life is not part of Quantum so if you upgrade you lose it. Quantum is considered a "new" service. This is only what I have read from other individuals who have upgraded, I personally have no interest in Quantum and am not upgrading. They aren't changing their agreement, you can keep you current service and keep the dvr for life, they consider Qunatum "new" service/technology.

All I can say is don't give up after one or two attempts. If you get the right CSR - as I eventually did - you can get a credit that is similar to the Free DVR for Life credit. It was close enough so I switched, despite having initial reservations about doing so. (Then again, it might also depend on how long you've been a FiOS customer.) Good luck.

The problem with "valued customer credits" is they are typically only for 3 to 12 months. When the time period is up, you have to go begging again. The "DVR for Life" credit has no expiration date.

I don't beg. There are way too many viewing options available for that. They don't want to do what's necessary to keep my business, then I move on. Have done it several times. No big deal.
