As a note, FiOS stbs do not support pass through.
Every device has to have its own connection to TV.

it is best to not go through the Fios set top box, if you just plug the hdmi cable from the dvr to a free hdmi spot on back of tv is best. The same goes for a vcr. Take the three component cables white to white, red to red, black to black into the unit and then match up to the connector on your tv.
