I cannot record CBS shows on my DVR. I have no problem recording anything else.

What do you get when trying to record?Have you tried to recordd a show that is running by hitting the record button?
Same or similar problem for months. Shows seem to record, but then when I try to play one, the DVR freezes, then jumps to live TV. The show remains in my recordings list, but it is marked as watched, and there is no option to restart. It just will not work. I have tried the support options from STB, FIOS app, and spent hours on phone with tech support. Verizon sent new DVR/STB, but problem persists. And it happens only with CBS shows, as far as I can tell. Given that more than half the shows that I record are on CBS and I am paying a FORTUNE for this service that I cannot use, it is aggravating enough that I’m probably going to cut the cord.
I’ve noticed lately my DVR will freeze during a recording of a program, but only on that channel. All other channels are fine, but on the channel that is being recorded, it will keep going back to a few seconds before it froze and then freeze again. I’ve tried rebooting the box a few times but it will just keep happening. I am currently on hold with Verizon and have been for about 15 minutes. This is very frustrating.
Well I have a bit of an update: I’ve seen a few posts about something similar happening on CBS. That’s the channel that it’s happening on here. I wonder if it could be related.
I am getting something very similar on my end. When my DVR attempts to record my wife's CBS afternoon soap opera, more often than not it produces two 8-9 second recordings that freeze and bomb out to live TV as has been described.
That is strange.
I record a fair amount of CBS content (colbert daily as well as at least 3-4 prime time shows a week).
Do you only have the one box? If you have multiple, have you tried swapping them around?
What CBS station is it?
I have only one box. CBS station is WUSA 9 in DC.
Tonight I was able to record and watch one show by switching from the SD FIOS channel 9 to the HD channel (FIOS channel 509). [I have series set to record SD channels to conserve space.] I do not know if problem solved by new channel or if was a fluke. Will see if it works for rest of week, as I changed all CBS series to the HD channel.
So it’s a similar problem that I’m having but not the same, as I’m recording the HD channel, and it’s not the same affiliate.
Just wondering, do you have the Fios TV One box?
Just started happening to us with CBS shows last week. Everything else is fine. Does Verizon review this and offer a solution?

It's only CBS and even weirder, it's only tuesday night. It's happened for three weeks in a row now.

Its happening to me for HBO. I can't record SD, but recording HD is fine. Wonder if this is a way for Verizon to get customers to but a box with more disk space.
Well I’m bumping up this thread because the problem seems to have returned.
I've also been having this issue. Not positive, but I think it is since I upgraded to Fios One service. It does happen on more than just Tuesday's for me. I reboot my DVR, but not sure that actually clears the problem since it is very sporadic. It shows the show as being recorded, the recorded length looks correct, but when you try and play the screen goes black for a second and then goes back to Live TV. Very annoying!
Did anyone from Verizon fix this problem yet because I'm getting sick and tired of this, Xfinity is looking pretty good now enough is enough
TV channel 504 CBS WBZ not working not recording properly freezing up says it's recorded and isn't recorded I have the new one unit brand new 6 months old and this started happening about 3 months ago I have used the FIOS tools to fix it a hundred times never fixes it. Is going on with this

Been having a problem the last few weeks getting the FiOS one DVR to record channel 504, CBS. It not only doesn’t record the channel, it usually only plays for a few seconds then it locks up. Any program recorded on 504 will say unable to play back. I opened up a ticket a week ago, But nothing has been fixed. Whenever I call to check on it The automated system tells me it will be fixed in another eight hours. Very frustrating. Any ideas?
I’m having the issue as well. Just on 504. When watching, the picture freezes. If I change the channel and change back, it plays the last 5 or so seconds before it froze, and freezes. If I unplug the Fios One box and plug it back in, the channel works again until the issue happens again a few minutes later. Odd that such a popular channel would have such a widespread issue without any solution. This service has been nothing but unrepairable glitches, especially with TV.
Stupid question, but as a newbie here, does Verizon actually read these posts and try to provide answers, or are we all on our own to try to figure it out.
Same problem here. 504 does not record any shows properly. Just started. Reset the box, reset the router, deleted all recordings, rescheduled....same junk.
Oh, if you're desperate, you CAN set it to record a CBS show, is SD [channel 4].

We just updated our DVR hardware to the new fios one boxes and are having the same issue with CBS freezing and not recording.
Hope Verizon is truly working to fix this problem.

I heard they were sending out a fix to those boxes that were affected.
Updated the fios dvr software on 5/3/20 - didn’t solve the problems - we still can’t record CBS shows. Also tried deleting the series i.e Bluebloods, CBS Sunday Morning, etc on my DVR series list and then re-creating them - this also DID NOT resolve the problems.
Just noticed that this inability to record CBS shows on the fios DVR began sometime after April 11th, 2020. The last successful CBS show recordings happened on this date. Everything after 4/11 failed to record (it shows as the show recorded successfully but when you play the show it only plays for a few seconds or minutes before it stops)
After spending almost two weeks fighting the exact same issues with our DVR and 504 CBS problems, especially The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and going through the "opening a ticket" blah blah blah, re-setting, re-starting, re-scheduling and getting nowhere, I got on a chat to CANCEL my TV service with Verizon FIOS to go back to DISH Network and its problem-free Hopper DVR, and instead I changed my multi-room DVR Enhanced Service ($20 a month) to regular DVR service ($12 a month) . As soon as that change was made, my CBS/504 problems are gone, so whatever Verizon did to re-set the box, fixed the problem. Also note that there was a Verizon response to this thread 4/30 saying the development team is aware of the problem and will issue a release to fix it the next day, so maybe just a coincidence. Whatever the reason, our fingers remain crossed that the problem doesn't recur.
