Can you use this router with verizon fios internet?

I am thinking of switching from comcast to verizon fios internet. I will ONLY have verizon internet. I currently have the Asus Dual-Band Wireless-N600 Gigabit Router (RT-N56U) that works great for comcast. Will this router work with verizon fios where I do not need to purchase or rent there router?

Also, what is the installation process for doing so?

Just ask Verizon for an Ethernet connection between the ONT and your router. All new installs should use Ethernet anyways, rather than Coax.

From there, just plug in the router. If a FiOS router is connected prior to connecting the ASUS, you'll need to do a DHCP Release on the FiOS router before hooking up the ASUS.

The FiOS router will be required if you happen to order FiOS TV.

Beyond that, just be aware that the ASUS may not handle the tiers above 150Mbps well, due to the age of the hardware under the hood.
