ALTER.NET packet loss Verizon Fios 75/75 NY

I upgraded from 25/25 to 75/75 just now in hopes of eliminitating this issue. My internet "hiccups" and when running a tracert it always pauses on Verizon's owned ALTER.net that it sends traffic through. Ive called verizon, changed out my router with them, and ran tracerts with tech-support. Not sure if they are working on this, but its an issues when loading some web pages that should load instantly and sometimes pauses out on demand tv.

So from the post you made, it doesn't look like there is an issue accessing the sites in a timely manner.

It is not uncommon to get a timed out statement in a traceroute.

All that could mean is that the device is programmed not to respond to trace.

If you pass over it and none of the other hops has a *, that is probably the case.

Especially if that hop consitently does not respond.

Getting to the sites is ok, the issue is that they dont always fully load fast like they used to a few weeks back for over 2 years that I had 25/25 Fios. I also have issues with ondemand and programme guide glitching at times which tells me I have an internet "hiccup" of some sort. There is clearly an issue with the network if the hops that dont register are always between verizon-gni.net & ALTER.NET which Verizon owns, passes connections through, and is its own network. In addition to that, I have a friend who did a tracert and is not getting that between verizon-gni.net & ALTER.NET like I am but is not in the NY area.

I'm pretty in tune with website loading since I own a few well performing ones and once they dont load on my end properly, I check my servers and then my connection.

First I thought it was because I updated win7 to win10 but then I went out and bought a new PC, fresh install of windows, added 16 GB ram and hard wired it to a swapped out actiontech verizon modem....still same issues. Something is glitchy with the network, it was never like this. Maybe its being throttled or there are too many users now. I actually thought sites were running rough because of all the possible holiday internet traffic, but it has not gotten any better now.

I do have a support ticket out on this, just waiting for a response.

Try running a tes to speedtest.verizon.net from a wired connection (esepcially when you notice issues).

If you don't get your subscribed speed, then it is a connectivity issue with Verizon.
If that passes, it is probably network congestion.

Which may or may not be within the Verizon network or could be at the handoff points.
