SSH port forwarding not working

Hello,

I have been attempting to do port forwarding for SSH, port 22 with no luck.

I have logged into my router and in the Port Forwarding screen I have tried both specifying my IP that I get from https://www.whatismyip.com/ as well as selecting my computer from the drop down with “SSH TCP Any -> 22” and hit the “Resolve Now” button after adding the port forwarding rule. And so far when I check with http://www.canyouseeme.org/ or http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ it always shows that port 22 is blocked.

So what am I missing? What else may I need to do in order to get port forwarding to work?

What exactly does your port forwarding rule say?

It says

SSH
TCP Any -> 22

All Broadband Devices

If your computer is Linux-based, did you check to see if IPTables or another firewall package is running and is actually allowing SSH traffic from external addresses? I would also venture a check into the FiOS router's Firewall settings. If the Firewall level is set too high, port forwarding will not work.

It looks fine.

Do you have the ssh receiver set up? If not you will still get port not open reported when testing.

I'm on Windows 7 and only have AVG and spybot search and destroy, which I wouldn't think either one would be blocking it.

I'm trying to connect to my web hosting provider. And they say it should be setup to allow me to ssh in, but even if it wasn't or I was doing something wrong on my end to connect, I would think if both http://www.canyouseeme.org/ or http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ are showing port 22 as blocked for me, then it wouldn't matter beyond that.
