ONT disconnecting and reconnecting from internet

Hello, I just got FiOS gigabit installed in my home on the 14th of August. Me and my mom used to have FiOS a long time ago before switching to Optimum/Altice USA. I have my desktop PC connected to the router as well as my laptop being connected via Wifi. The internet was blazing fast and close to advertised speeds. However, after my internet got installed, the internet dropped out after 2 hours or so and reconnected afterward. I thought it had something to do with the signals for the router. I tried plugging it in directly to a power outlet, but the same thing happened. It also happened when I used my ASUS RT-AC66U router. Even rebooting the router and replacing the router didn't stop the disconnects. At first I thought that the 75ft WAN cable was faulty , but it seemed to work okay. I also did turn off uPnP and it barely had any effect. Turns out it was most likely the ONT we have since it has been there since we have switched to Optimum and came back to FiOS.

Is there any way to have the ONT (and maybe the WAN cable) replaced with a new ONT and WAN cable?

Every two hours (on the dot?) sounds like trouble with DHCP Renewal. The Leases are typically around two hours, and the router should start attempting renewal once half of the lease has lapsed. What do the logs from your router show around the time the connection drops, and restores?

One setting I recommend changing if you still have the ASUS router in the mix, is the WAN DHCP Aggressiveness. ASUS defaults to Aggressive, which I've found causes problems with some ISPs refusing to issue or renew IPs because the router asks too frequently. In the router's web interface, go to the WAN settings and change this from Aggressive to Normal. The FiOS Quantum router does not have such a setting.

Also, are you using Coax or Ethernet from the ONT? Wouldn't hurt if you're using Ethernet to try another cable temporarily. Otherwise, Verizon can check the logs on your ONT to see if it is reporting signal issues or any other signs of trouble with the Fiber signal.

First, are you sure it's the ONT? Have you looked at the lights on the ONT and are they still showing it as online (Mgmt active)? Observe the ONT when it's working properly and then again when it's not.

The router thing is the real possibility however ... how do you have that ASUS router attached to the network? Disconnect everything from the Vz router except the one PC and the connection which runs to the ONT and turn everything off EXCEPT the ONT, PC, and router. Any old Optimum equipment AND most definitely the ASUS router must be powered off (not just disconnected).

See if the problem goes away.

If it does, I would be willing to bet you have your ASUS router configured "as a router" with the LAN ports on the same side of the network as the LAN ports of the Vz router. Essentially, you have two DHCP servers running and every two hours a battle ensues when one router provides bad information to your PC and pulls it away from the Vz router.

Come back after you test and if the problem was resolved, we can talk thru how to proper connect the ASUS if you want to keep it in the mix.

I just switched the DHCP mode to Normal. I'm using ehternet from the ONT.

Alright, so I unplugged the Altice One boxes in my house and plugged back in the g1100 router in my room. Same situation as always. The internet still times out and reconnects after two hours. Looks like the 75ft Ethernet cable installed into the Motorola ONT is faulty!! Might need to get a Monoprice Gigabit Ethernet cable.
