Contract Fraud

I have a 2 years contract with Verizon, I called to decrease the internet speed to save some money and they updated the expiration date of the contract. Is this even legal?

I really really dislike Verizon Fios, paying almost $100 for internet and TV not even good channels, cant wait until my contract expires..
