Dear Verizon Community, can you help?
Two years ago I shut down my Verizon service because I was moving. I had faithfully paid my bill in full for four years at that address without a single late payment. Verizon somehow failed to shut down the account, instead billing me for months later. I paid these despite frequent attempts to have them removed.
YEARS later, I was contacted by Collections for $58 and I paid it immediately despite that I have never accrued the charge. My credit has been ruined.
In July of 2016, after hours and hours of customer service phone calls, a Verizon Customer Service agent agreed to remove the erroneously reported late payment from all three credit bureaus. They emailed me to confirm this was such and that a "Request for Deletion" would be submitted to the credit agencies.
As of January 2017, on my most recent credit reports, the charge still stands and my once strong credit rating has been degraded to <550.
The hurdles currently in place to get in touch with anyone at Customer Service at Verizon have been unreal. If anyone has any advice on how to get this charge removed formally from my credit reports, please advise. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Best,
HG
