So how could someone get my contact list and send an email seemingly from me. I do not quite no what to do about this. I checked my computer logs and it does not appear to have come from my computer. I am very careful about entering emails and sending forwards.

Possibly they got it from one of the persons you sent a message to.

Considering always using BCC (blind cc) whenever sending a message to many people.

As far as sending a message seemingly from you that is trivial to do. The smtp protocol does not authenticate who you say you are.

Any time you think your account might have been compromised, it's a good idea to change your password and secret question/answer to something new and complex, and run a virus scan.
