I have a yahoo e-mail account that I've been using for quite some time and would like to continue using. Is there a way that I can "transfer" this to my Verizon account, making it my Verizon e-mail?
I'm not sure but, I don't think you can do that with Verizon Netmail (web). You can receive mail from the Yahoo account... but I don't see any option to send Yahoo mail using Netmail. You can however use any email client (program) you choose and can set that up to use both the Verizon and Yahoo accounts. I use Microsoft Live Mail to access my accounts at Verizon, Roadrunner, Gmail, and a dot-com I maintain.
Yes, it is possible. You would need to sign up for the Yahoo portal partner. (Go to verizon.net/getyahoo to do so.)
That said, my advice is not to sign up for it.
1. Once you set your Verizon account to Yahoo, it is nearly impossible to change your mind without a ton of unnecessary anguish.
2. If you were to ever cancel/lose Verizon service, your free Yahoo account will still be linked to your Verizon account, and will not function correctly until you unlink it, which is a real pain.
Keep it free/separate, and set your verizon.net account to forward to it. You'll save yourself a future headache.
Yes, that make better sense. Forward verizon.net to yahoo, not the other way around.
Actually, you can configure the Yahoo account to poll your Verizon account (via POP) to pull messages from sent to your Verizon address directly into your Yahoo account (same applies for Gmail and Hotmail). That method preserves the sender's information and doesn't risk having Yahoo drop a forwarded message as SPAM, etc. It's pretty simple to do.

+1 A very valid point. I should have mentioned that option too.
