I had Verizon installed today. My phone will not let me dial out without first dialing the area code to every single number I dial? Why is this? This is very confusing to some.

Verizon Digital Voice Service is a VOIP system and requires dialing all 10 numbers even if the call is to your next door neighbor. Some VOIP Systems don't require it but Verizon's does.
