MIFI2200 for Mac--VZ Access Manager doesnt appear on a new install

i'm trying to install a new MIFI2200 card on my wife's Mac. it had a previous VZ Access Manager on it, which we sent to trash. When i usb-connect the new MIFI card, nothing appears (a VZ Access Mng install screen is supposed to appear). Suggestions? I was thinking maybe that sending the old Access Mgr to trash didnt actually uninstall it?
