G1100 and buying a WCB3000N01

Hi All,

I currently have a G1100 and a power ethernet adapter and wifi router going to the other side of our house as the wifi isn't as strong. I was looking to replace that with a WCB3000N01 as the speeds are around 4MB/sec with the power ethernet adapter. Would this work and is there something that Verizon needs to do on their end to get it working? Or is there some procedure that needs to be done? Would a Wifi 6 router to replace the wifi on the G1100 and WCB3000N01 be a better option? I just want to be sure it will cover the 1800 sq ft of our home.

Don't buy powerline adapters. They always only deliver 10% of their advertised speed.

WCB3000N is old, but cheap, costs $20 each on EBay. It does have 175Mbps 5GHz 802.11n with decent ranges. For a medium to large-sized house, you would need at least 2 of them. Since you did not mention speed requirements, I am assuming 175Mbps on WiFi is enough. If that's the case, investing in a G3100 would be unnecessary and expensive. Technically speaking, a G3100 has the same range as a G1100 + a WCB3000N. If you were to purchase a G3100, you can still commission the G1100 as an extender.
