Shutting off voicemail

When people call they get a message from Verizon saying please enter your mailbox #. How do I shut this off so when callers call, they get my answering machine and not verizon?

What you want to do is remove the VM feature from your account. Calling Customer service @ 1-800-688-2880 and ask to remove voicemail off your account. After you do this, you will never have to worry about it going to voicemail!
