My new HP Pav G7 laptop will not connect wirelessly or through the cable to the internet using a Westell 327w modem. Is it compatible with Windows 7?
With the modem turned on and all cables connected, can you login to the router? Bring up the run command and open this
http:\\192.168.1.1
(or whatever your router address is)
Are you connected via USB or cable between the router and the computer? If you are using USB, I would try switching to cable, or vice versa.
Verizon tech support had me enter the 192 number in the lap tops browser, but no connection. Not using a router. The modem is wired into my desk top which has Windows XP. My PS3 is running wireless through the modem on a lower floor. The modem works fine between the two. While running a network diagnostic, there was mention of some older modems not being compatible with Windows 7. Between Verizon and HP, none could give a solution to this no connectivity issue.
well, it's perfectly compatible as long as you aren't trying to do a USB connection hardwired.
so plug a cable between your computer and into one of the numbered LAN ports (1, 2, 3 or 4) and then follow these instructions and tell us what you get.
Using the ping command to test the connection, I entered 192.168.1.1; I received transmit failed-general failure
packets sent 4, received 0, lost 4.
Entered command ipconfig; received media state-media disconnected. Showed this on all possible connections, and for tunnel adaptor isatap- three different long number configurations.
This was a hard wire connection into the new laptop that I'm using on this desktop to send this message.
On using ping command to test internet connection; entered ping verizon.net, and received back; "ping request could not find host verizon.net. please check the name and try again."
I used the default IP 192.168.1.1 when testing gateway connection.
