DSL connection drops Every 2-4 days

Hello,

I am a new dsl customer and it has not had a steady connection for more than 3 days. What occurs is the internet would stop

working and when I check the modem, the DSL light is flashing like its not getting a signal (its not flashing rapidly because if it was

then it would be getting a signal). After I turn off the modem and turn it back on again all is working again. I am using the Westell

6100G Rev. H manufactured in 07/2010.

This is the second modem that I have tried to use. The first modem would only last 2 days until it needed to be reset so a verizon

tech came to the house to check the lines and said that it was the modem that needed to be replaced. I replaced the modem and

thought the problem was solved until it happened again with this current modem.

One solution I've read about was to setup a timer on the power outlet of the modem to have it reset itself once a night? Is that a

good idea? Since this is not a wireless modem/router is there any output I can provide? Also, should I try to get a third modem

from verizon?

You aren't by any chance running software with an ad blocker, are you? I'm getting the continuous loading animations on that page as well, and I believe it's because I filter out Advertisements on my end.

I have a similar problem. I have the Westell 7500 (3rd one) and my internet connection drops acouple times everyday and one time always seems to be around 9:30pm est. Im about ready to dump Verizon!!! Any suggestions appreciated

#2 Choose System Monitoring, Advanced Statistics, and then Transceiver Statistics.

#3 If you need a Username and Password, try the following:

Your statistics look very nice. Good enough to handle any package you wish to put on the line. Just wondering though, during times when the DSL is down and the light is flashing, do you hear static or other noises on your phone line?

This may sound weird, but the static only seems to occur when there is or has been alot of rain/moister

I have also noticed that certain websites never load flash at all. For example this website just keeps saying "loading" for the pictures.

I used to have a problem with "https" sites never loading but I changed the router MTU settings to 1492 and it fixed the problem.

I am extremley unhappy with my "upgrade" and have been experiencing the same problem. This morning is a good example, I logged in to check my email with no problem, THEN I was going to open another window when my wireless connection dropped. The funny thing is that my computer still showed that I was connected.

This is not the only problem that I am having and would not recommend upgrading because "tech support" really has not been useful at all.

That is exactly what mine is doing! The tech that came out yesterday said that the problem was with a bad hum on the line from old equipmet in the Central Office. That caused my Westell 7500 modem to overheat and now they are replacing it. The telephone tech resolved his issue by saying the problem was inside my house. Can you believe it? Nothing got fixed! I guess it will fry out the next modem I hook it up.

I have been putting up this terrible service for almost two years. No one seems to know (or want to fix it). Must be a ploy to force me to FIOS.

Believe me. If you can get FiOS, then get it. It will eliminate all your issues. No more copper lines to mess with outside. And you can get faster speeds then DSL will ever get.

Your margins on your line are as low as they ideally would want to be, so what you might be seeing are occasional drops being caused by spikes in noise. If your attenuation is correct, you're close to the limit for the speed you are set at. You can see if Verizon can improve the line any to make it run at a higher capacity, or you could see if they would enable ADSL2+ onto your line which will help to stabalize it a little more.

I just realized - while researching my continuing internet access problem, that VERIzon was kind enough to "UPGRADE" my dsl service and sent me a message on an internet email that I do not use and never look at. My preferred address is clearly listed as my primary contact, but they apparently didn't want me to refute the increased charge.

However, my service - intermittently bad before, has become intolerable since my UPGRADE. Now I have been without service for three days. I was supposed to be contacted by a tech within 24 hoursw - I called back in 48 hours and was told they are "working on my problem": I use this internet for my business. This is unacceptable. I am unable to talk to a Supervisor - she is unavailable.

Why am I paying more money for absoutely NO SERVICE. Why doesn't Verizon care about their clients? Will they pay me for the hit to my business. I am presently using my laptop at my local homeowner's office where I have to bootleg their signal.

What do you all think about Cable - I am ready to switch and just cancel the phone line entirely. Screw Verizon and the horse they rode in in. They don't care about service, only their own bottom line - that's why all the help centers are in Mexico and the Phillipines where no one knows anything and cant help you anyway.

I'd go ahead and just switch, don't waste your time.

Just got my cable line in today. It's nice to see 16.5 mbps downstream. Sure beats the 1200k that my Verizon line would sync at, then degrade to 32k within 12 hours, every day for the last month. Sure, I'm paying a little more, but I could have got 10mbps for the same price as I paid Verizon... and actually had working service.

Of course, they haven't done anything noticeable to even try to fix it. Two appointments that techs didn't show up for, or even call to cancel, and daily calls where the service center just asks "Is it working now?", and couldn't even answer anything beyond "The ticket is still open, so they must be working on it, but we don't have a clue what has been done... when would you be available to sit at home again and wait for a tech to not show up?" pushed me over the edge.

Goodbye Verizon, it's been.... something I won't ever forget.
