Due to issue with bandwidth need to cancel DSL service, but keep email address. FIOS is not available. How can I retain current email address? Does Verizon have some feature to allow me to pay a yearly fee to keep email address?
Thanks
Hi,
You can surely go ahead and keep your E-mail addresss while cancelling your internet services.
With Verizon you would have 2 E-mail address listed below
1>Verizon.net e-mail address
2>AOL/MSN/YAHOO E-MAIL ADDRESS
1> If you want Verizon.net E-mail address you just need to sigup for Verizon domain at http://surround.verizon.net/Shop/Utilities/VerizonYourDomain.aspx for $19.95/year.
2>If you want AOL/MSN/Yahoo e-mail address woth you new service provider you need to check www.trueswitch.com for futher information.
Also we also you can downgrade the DSL to a low cost dail-up upto $9.99/month to secure the Same e-mail address.

ALERT!!!!
This suggestion from the Verizon HelpDesk applies to the PRIMARY email address ONLY!!! If you have sub-accounts, this suggestion will do NOTHING to help you.
Take it from me...Even with taking this step as recommended by VZ Support, you subaccounts will be discontinued and terminated. THERE IS NO WAY TO SAVE THESE OR TURN THEM BACK ON!
😞
I am moving and need to cancel my DSL service. I only have my current primary address under my account. I am moving to a household with existing Verizon high speed Internet/FIOS and want to keep my email address. Am I able to set up my current primary address as a subaccount in the new household/Verizon account?
I'm in the same position as medavis777. I have a residence in DE, and I'm leaving the one in DC, but all the email addresses I use are attached the DC account.
The Help Desk mentioned YourDomain, but it's not clear how to set this up and I see no FAQ online.
I'm probably going to add the cheapest DSL to my DE address, and was told I could activate that account, and then set up an email address for each one I want to transfer from the old account.
Then, I disconnect the service at the old address (this is the part that scares me), and then call the help desk and ask for an alias repoint for each account, including the primary and the sub-accounts.
I guess I need to take it on faith that in the intervening time, my email won't disappear. Will the web spaces be transferred at the same point as the alias repoint? It was suggested that when I call to do this, I request a Level 3 tech in Ontario from the start.
I see the questions here, but has anyone actually done it successfully who can reassure me or offer tips? Thanks!
Helpdesk:
I have FIOS internet and want to cancel it but retain my main veriszon.net email address. I looked at your link and it did not say that you can retain a verizon.net email address for a fee without continuing FIOS internet.
Please clarify - and , if possible, give me a phone number and contact person to arange this.

Hello ,
Yes, it is possible to keep your @verizon.net e-mail address. As mentioned above, in order to do so, you need to get one of the Essentials services - Verizon Your Domain. This service is available for customers with High-Speed Internet/FIOS that do not use Yahoo/Windows Live/AOL as their default Online Experience. To get the service, please follow these steps:
1. Order it prior to submitting any request for cancellation on any of your services.
2. You have to be logged in with your primary e-mail address/Verizon online id. This however doe not mean you will lose your sub-accounts. To order the Verizon Domain, please follow these steps:
➲ http://www22.verizon.com ➲ My Verizon ➲My Verizon Services ➲Internet ➲Verizon Your Domain
or
➲ http://verizon.net➲Shop ➲ Utilities ➲ Verizon Your Domain
3. Once you have ordered the Verizon Your Domain you would need to log in to your SiteControl panel and link your sub accounts by following these steps:
➲ Log in at https://sitecontrol.domains.verizon.net
➲ Go to Manage Services ➲E-mail ➲ Manage E-mail ➲Create e-mail address;➲ In the "Create Username" box enter the respective sub-account ID (the first part of the e-mail), select the one from the drop down menu➲ Click on Create E-mail address;➲ Repeat the above action for each sub-account.
4. After you have followed all of the above instructions, you can call the Cancellation department and ask that they close you DSL/FIOS service, but let them know that you want to KEEP your Broadband Essentials.
For more information, you can contact a Verizon Representative at some of the following numbers:

Hello DS_Former_FIOS,
This is incorrect. If you link your sub - account in your Verizon Domain SiteControl panel prior to clossing your FIOS service, you will be able to retain the sub-accounts as well as the primary one.
Kind regards,
let this be a lesson to all.... do NOT use your ISPs email, if you "can't" change your email addy... use a free or pay-for third party email service, and regardless of if you move or change providers.. you will ALWAYS have your email.....
had my same hotmail for over a decade..... I have moved upteen times.... my email is ALWAYS there, and {please keep your posts courteous} free
After several communications with various Verizon offices, I was told that there is a way for residential customers to retain a @verizon.net e-mail account even after canceling Verizon high speed internet service. I would appreciate confirmation / comments on this -- particularly if a Verizon official can comment on this forum:
I was told that, in order to do this, I would have to switch my online experience (I'm currently a Verizon DSL - Yahoo customer) to the Verizon DSL / AOL partnership using the Verizon Central "MyAccount" settings page. Once my @verizon.net e-mail addresses (there is one primary account and one sub-account) are associated with AOL (rather than with Yahoo), I can cancel the Verizon DSL service (I, too, am moving to a new area where Verizon does not have service) while still retaining full access via an AOL portal to the @verizon.net e-mail addresses. This option appears to be free (unlike using Verizon Your Domain or DSL Essentials services), so I'm skeptical and I would be interested to know whether anyone has successfully tried this.
I have read where you can keep your Verizon address if you go with your domain and link your current address's to that. looking into the your doman set up it states "Email Addresses (for use with Verizon.net Email)"
Frontier states that 1 july Email address will transfer to frontier.com
The question is, How can you use verizon.net email for the your domain name when they are doing away with verizon.net email???
I agree with Elizabeth S I have moved to four different states and use Hot Mail never had a problem and the service has always been great. I keep two e mail accounts one for ordering online and thats where all the junk mail goes and the other one for my contacts so I don't have to worry about getting bogged down with spam.
Tried step # 2 a number of times and this error!!

I have the same question. Moving to Albuquerque - no FIOS. Would like to keep my verizon.net email address which I could check from wireless. Wondering if you have a limited service that would allow such a thing and what it would cost. Better yet, bring FIOS to Albuquerque. Thanks.
You can use Verizon Your Domain. Basic is $19.95 a year.
http://www22.verizon.com/home/utilities/domain-name/
Also possible that Verizon Wireless is available.
For people that want a FAR easier way to place your order to keep your VZ.net email address, ignore ALLLLLL of the other links, and just go to www.keepmyemail.com
It's a verizon site made specifically for the purpose of keeping your email.
Going and buying a domain without this process, is a broken process, that requires VZ involvement in most cases.
The link www.keepmyemail.com is made by verizon with the specific intention of keeping your vz.net email address.
What would you like to do?Sign-up to retain my @verizon.net email address(es)Order Verizon web hosting packageBoth retain my @verizon.net email address(es) and order web hosting*Please Note: If you have already ordered Verizon Your Domain Web Hosting you are already retaining your @verizon.net email address(es) in the event of a disconnect or move.
I have tried to order this for 4 days - sending at least 10 hours and the website stops at confirm payment and will not process it!
HELp! What to do??? I have spent nearly 4 hours today on line and on hone trying to get hel from verizon and no one can figure out how to hel. Certainly there is a phone number one can call to order this????????????????
HELP!
You are best off creating a gmail or live account. This way, no matter who you have for ISP, you will have an email address that works for you regardless of your connectivity.
I will keep verizon net email for $20. a year as I was told by verizon service.
keep my verizon.net email
I also have kept my verizon.net email address for $20 bucks a year.
But it was a nightmare because not many Verizon reps on the phone have any idea about this.
Go to this web page. Do everything on the process, but for God sakes do NOT put in a disconnect order for your FIOS or whatever.
https://order.domains.verizon.net//index.php
DON'T ask for the disconnect until you get an email from verizon mydomains that they have accepted your request to keep the email address and have processed your $20 payment.
If you don't get the email in a week or two, call Verizon and INSIST that you be transferred to somebody in the mydomain section. Worst case scenario...your request gets stalled somehow, but the my domains people CAN force it thru as they did for me.
Good luck.
PS: If it gets done, the address to access your email will be webmail.verizon.net and it should remember your user name (in my case firstname.lastname...but don't add the @verizon.net suffix.
By the way, I just got the email saying the credit card for verizon broadband is expiring. I paid my 20 bucks for a year, so what the hell is this...another verizon mystery to be solved, and especilly so since the Verizon phone agent said there was no such service...which is funny because there is a description on a Verizon web site:
Essentials & Extras is described as:
Super charge your Internet experience with premium services, exclusive content and enhanced features. Experience the Internet like never before with Broadband Essentials such as all-in-one security and personalization tools, or with Broadband Extras like online gaming, music, movies, easy photo sharing, and more.
This was the first bit of the email....and the web page in the email is defunct. I thought it might be a phishing email, and I am scanning my whole system for malware...but I think it's just Verizon nonsense.
I would like to keep my verizon.net email address. How do I do that?
thank you,
{edited for privacy}
I kept my email using this last sept. How do I extend this for another year? It won't let me do it online and every time I call in, I get disconned after being transfered over and over.
I would like to keep my e-mail account for verizon at this time.
Never get prompted to keep Verizon.net anywhere
