Two routers on the same line

Hi,

Just to have a confirmation.

Here is the situation : I'm renting an apartment in a private house. My landlord has verizon and I would like also to have my own verizon internet connection.

I asked Verizon if this was possible and they say : no problem.

But are they really sure?

I have a jack for a phone line in my apartment, but it's the same phone line as the one of my landlord. Can I really put a DSL router/modem on that jack and use it at the same time as the one of my landlord? This will cause interferences following different websites. But Verizon customers service told me that all I need was a different account...

The phone jack in your apartment is more than likely a private line just for your apartment. That is, unless your apartment is sharing a phone line. Provided that is the case, you should give Verizon a call and request DSL service. From there, you can attach your own router if Verizon supplies you with a modem so that you can connect your devices. If what your Landlord has provided you with is an Ethernet jack which does give Internet when you connect your PC to it (verify with him/her that it IS ethernet and not telephone mistakenly wired into an RJ-45 port), there's a good bet you can connect your router to it, but I'd still think you would be better off with your own line rather than an apartment-wide shared connection.
