I am using Outlook for emails on the computer. When I go on the Verizon web mail site non of the emails appear. Dose down loading them to Outlook eliminate them from the Verizon site. I also note that the welcome at the top of the page is not the email address but series of numbers and letter @ Verizon,net. Any help would be appreciated.

You will need to check the box in your Outlook settings to "Leave a copy of messages on the server." Otherwise yes, it will delete them from webmail when you download them.

As somegirl noted, yep. But here's a nice little trick to keep your online inbox (on the Verizon server) from filling up if you do leave them up there.

I too use the outlook client locally but I like having them for awhile on the Verizon server so I can use my phone to look at email or a browser elsewhere, etc. If I forget and run outlook, then it pulls them all and deletes them (default setting).

So, go in to your account settings for your email in outlook (file tab, account settings, select the email account, click on change above it in the task bar). Internet email settings popup will appear, click on more settings in the lower right of the popup screen. Another popup appears, go to the advanced tab and at the bottom is says delivery, check the Leave a copy of messages on the server and ALSO CHECK the Remove from server after X days.

The reason to set the X days is so that the server doesn't get full b/c you're not deleting read mail from it (and getting hate mail from the Verizon mail server as it gets fuller) but you can let it stay there for a few days to give you the leisure of reading wherever you want and then downloading it to outlook en masse for archiving or whatever reason you keep it.

I have mine set for 2 days..That's a balance of somewhere around 400 emails on the server for me. I fire up outlook on the home system for me about every 2-3 days so it gives me an overlap buffer of emails that have been downloaded but I can still see them here online via the Verizon email web client. Also, if you don't want dups from stuff you send from the web but want it also in outlook, if you do sent it from the web client, afterwards just drag n drop the emails from the sent folder that you wanna save to the inbox. next time you do a download via outlook, you'll get them and can filter/move them via the outlook rules manager...FWIW and of course YMMV
