New Fios 300/300 Customer: Connecting existing router to Fios Router

New to Fios, I am getting the service setup next week, and I have a couple of physical questions about the setup.

1) I have a Amplfi HD with wireless access points setup in the house (kind of a mesh system) currently that really works for me.

- Can I use both the Verizon supplied router and the Amplifi router in the house?

- Can I connect my Amplifi router to one of the open lan ports on the version router, in effect chaining them together?

- That would allow my existing home network devices connecting to the current SSID to operate as is, right?

2) This question is about the placement of the ONT and connection back to the router location in the house. I am getting internet only service. The ONT is going to be on one end of my house and the router will be on the other. Two story house is on a slab so only way to get the two connected would be up high through the attic the length of the house and down to the room where the router is (attic to room is pretty simple).

- distance is probably 80 to 100 feet. is this a coax run from the ont to the router of an ethernet cable run?

- I would like to use a moca adapter (coax to ethernet) to connect directly to a smart tv. btw. But that may not be necessary is the wireless connection is good and I can still use use the setup documented in #1 above.

1) Yes, you'll receive an Alcatel-Lucent (Nokia) 211 ONT & power supply. It does not come with a battery backup. Verizon sells the battery backup, but it will only support telephone service, requires you to manually turn it on/off and runs on 12 alkaline "D" cell batteries that are not rechargeable. A UPS is a better purchase.

2) Whenever possible, Verizon technicians will install the ONT inside. No enclosure is needed in that instance. If the ONT is mounted outside, a suitable enclosure will be provided.

3) The Verizon technician will look over the house and decide the best way to proceed.

4) Installing an ONT inside is preferred as that will protect the unit from weather extremes & temperatures. The Tellabs 611 ONT that Verizon installed at the house lasted 13+ years.

If Fios Television is not being subscribed to, it isn't necessary to use Verizon's router. It would be prudent to keep the Fios router on hand. If Verizon Support is needed to resolve Internet issues, the agent will only test to the ONT if a non-Verizon router is connected. Connect the Verizon router when needing support for Internet service.

Coaxial cable can be used, however, if adapters are purchased, Verizon can provision Internet to the ONT's Ethernet jack. Connect one adapter to the ONT's Ethernet jack and the other to the router.

Taking the time to inspect the existing coaxial cable infrastructure might be wort the effort.

. Replace any old/outdated splitters.

. Re-terminate any poorly applied connectors to the coaxial cable.

. If there are open/unused ports on any splitter, either replace the splitter with one that has the exact number of needed ports or install terminating caps onto the open ports.

I am not sure what to expect physically as the equipment is installed in my home. House is two story, vinyl siding on a slab. I am getting internet only, so I assume it will be an ethernet connection from the ONT. Service is going to be 300mbps/300mbps.

1) Will I be getting the smaller black GPN ONT with the power supply? Does this have a battery backup (not needed if it doesn't)?

2) Can this be installed outside (with the power supply inside) in an enclosure box?

3) If installed inside, will the technician run the fiber cable up through my attic in the two story home and then dropped down to another location for the ONT to be inside? Only way to get wiring around in the house is through the attic.

4) In general, which is better inside or outside ONT install or does it matter?
