Hotmail & changing ports

Hey. Consider me really **bleep** & explain step by step what I need to fix re my hotmail e-mail account & my yahoo e-mail account & my Windows Live account -- I use wireless high-speed FIOS on Windows VISTA & my Verizon.net e-mail gets forwarded to my msm accounts.

Do I need to make these changes? Where exactly do I do it? I can't find anything that says Port in my Internet options. Thank you!

If you are checking those accounts on the web, then you do not have to change anything at all.

If you are using a pop3 client, then how to make the changes depends on which one you are using. Some examples of pop3 clients:

Outlook

Outlook Express

Incredimail

Thunderbird

Mac Mail

Apple Mail

This is only a partial list, as there are hundreds, if not thousands of pop3 clients out there.

I'm with ArleneH - the emails verizon is sending out about this pending change are so garbled I at first ignored them as phishing. I recently upgraded ot Windows 7 and selected Thunderbird as the email manager for my verizon.net e-mail. I don't think that combination is addressed in the Verizon email - Thunderbird, but VZ's own email. Does this require the port change?

Second - VZ seems to assume we have only one email account. To avoid spam, I have set up several - gmail, hotmail, live, yahoo.com - for different purposes. If the port is not to be changed for verizon.net email - does that mean all these alternative email addresses will no longer work?

No it does not.

Well that depends..

#1 If you have a Verion Business Account, it does not apply to you.

#2 If you use web based e-mail, it does not apply to you.

#3 If you use a POP3 Client (for example OutLook), then it applies to you.
