Verizon Your Domain - how do I get started?

I see that you can keep your existing verizon.net email address by using Verizon Your Domain. When I go to purchase it asks me to enter a domain name to check availability? What do I do here to get me existing email accounts to carry over? Do I just create and domain name? HELP

Yes, you will have to choose a domain name as part of the service. You will link the domain service to your existing @verizon.net accounts.

Will I still be able to access email online via verizon.net once I terminate my interet account? or will I have to use 3rd party software exclusively?
