HOW CAN I SWITCH PHONES ONLINE? URGENT!

Well I am currently a 2nd user on the account, although my friend just called verizon, and allowed me the ability to make ESN Changes without the requirement of his social security. As of which...How can i go about switching online? Its urgent I switch now..

I clicked ACTIVATE A NEW PHONE..and the service seems to be down

If you were added as an authorized user on the account, you should have been provided with a Billing System Password which you would use to verify instead of the account holder's social security number. Since you are unable to activate the phone online, you are able to activate the phone through the automated phone system. This can be completed through the following steps:

 

• On the phone you are looking to activate, dial *228 and select option 1.
• You will be prompted to enter in the mobile number you want to activate the device for.
• Once the mobile number has been verified, you will be asked for the billing system password on the account (if you were not authorized correctly you will be asked for the account holders social security number).
• You will receive a message advising you to hold while the phone is being activated if the information you provide is correct.
• Once activation is complete, the phone will power cycle off and on.
• You will then dial #832 to place a test call to verify the phone is activated correctly.

If the correct information is not provided you can attempt the following steps in order to activate the phone online.

Delete Cookies and Temporary Internet Files:

 

• Locate the Tools option in your web browser.
• Select Internet Option (Select Delete Browsing History if available)
• Once you have located Delete Browsing History, you will select to Delete the Files for Temporary Internet Files and Cookies.
• Once those processes are complete, you will close out of the current web browser and reopen a new web browser window.
• You will then go to www.vzw.com and login to My Verizon.
• Once logged in, Locate the I Want To...section.
• In the DEVICEcolumn, click Activate a Device.
• Select MDN
• Click Next.
  • If Backup Assistant is installed already, click the Back Up Phone Nowbutton.
  • If eligible for Backup Assistant, click the Install Backup Assistantbutton and follow steps to install from device.
  • If NOT eligible for Backup Assistant, click the appropriate Operating Systemlink and follow steps.
  • Click Next.
  • Enter Zip Code (location) and click Submit(if applicable).
  • Enter the new Device ID (ESN, MEID, or IMEI).
  • Click Continue.
  • Select the check box for the desired feature(s).
  • Click Continue.
  • Review and confirm the selected updates.
  • Click Submit.
