I have been using Thunderbird to access my email accounts by an IMAP connection. I used Earthlink dsl for over 5 years. Today I activated Verizon dsl, and I can neither receive nor send email. Please advise.

You need to go to ACCOUNT SETTINGS to set the email server and email address.
Of course. For incoming email I am using the same settings as with the Earthlink account.
Since last night I changed the security setting to SSL, and now it is receiving messages just fine. But I still cannot send email.
Here are the setting I am using for outgoing email:
Server Name: outgoing.verizon.net
Port: 587
Use name and password: (check)
User Name: (verizon email address minus @verizon.net)
Use secure connection: no
Try port 25 and the "use TLS if available" options
At least that is how my outgoing is setup.
